Here were are. A brand new year! Happy New Year 2020! We’re ready! Are you? 

A new year means a fresh start! Get rid of the old and start over! No need to carry over things that are holding you back.

I haven’t really thought about any resolutions for myself. I just have a few things I want to dial in on. We are headed into our second year as a homeowner. The first year was tough. Now that I am familiar with the amount of bills we have, I need to create a budget and do my best to stick with it. It just means less spending on extras.

2020 will be about focusing on the positive. Getting rid of as much as I can. I am running a household on my own. I am doing my best to keep our home clean and organized. 

Focus

Late last year, I tried something new. It lead me to realize my true priority that’s been right in front of my face. 

After dealing with heartbreak and heartache, I was looking for a distraction. I was always feeling sad, depressed, and cry a lot. I was looking for something to change my routine. 

I tried being a Foster Dog Mom. It became too much for me. The very first (and last) dog I fostered ended up having major surgery after spending a week with me. Long story short, it was more than I could handle. The support wasn’t there when I needed it.

After that entire time, the experience made me realize I should be focusing on my son and our household. Instead, I put my energy into volunteering in his classroom! It’s been much more meaningful for me.

I have also been focusing on starting college again! I am really hopeful and staying positive. I want to stick with it. Earning another degree is good for my family! 

Goals

My goals for 2020 are staying active with my fitness. I need to make the effort to go for walks throughout the day, or take a break to do yoga, stretch, or even pilates! 

My health needs to improve as well. This goes along with my fitness. If I can make healthier choices and make fitness a priority, I can stay motivated.

I’m going to try pulling out my old workout programs and mix it up throughout the week! I tend to get bored or lose motivation. Doing a different workout each day/week should make it fun and interesting! 

Spend Less Money

I’d like to spend less money on things I don’t absolutely need. 

This is a big goal for me for 2020. A few of our bills are going up, which means I need to cut expenses anywhere I can. I started lowering our thermostat a few degrees at night. I already keep our home on the cold side and just wear extra clothes.

I love buying new clothes throughout the year. I know I don’t need new clothes. My closet and dresser drawers are more than full. 

I also hope to spend less on the extras, such as treats, goodies, candy, ice coffee. 

Downsize

Since we moved in, I like to go through our boxes every few months. I like to downsize and make more room in our closets.

For years, I’ve held on to things. It feels freeing to go through our clothes and get rid of things we no longer wear or need. 

Downsizing is an on-going process. I find it easier for me to go through our things a little at a time. It’s a lot of work going through our boxes, cupboards, and closets and then taking everything to the trash.
