We recently celebrated our second Christmas in our new home. It’s been a tough year, however, I am making it work for us.
We’ve been in our home for over a year now! Last year was our first Christmas in our new home. We had just moved in barely two weeks prior to the holidays. My son and I literally had no furniture, except our mattresses. At the time, I was just thankful we had our home and getting settled in. I was a new homeowner, unpacking and organizing all on my own.
Looking back, I was excited to have our own place again. The last year allowed me to really find myself, rediscover my strengths, get us settled in our home and make it our very own.
I spent the holidays unpacking, organizing, and cleaning up! Since we didn’t have any furniture, it was pretty easy to keep everything organized. We ended up having to wait until early February or so for our furniture to be delivered!
Second Christmas in our new home
This year being our second Christmas, I decided start new traditions! I still can’t afford to splurge on presents, which is fine. My son is happy as is!
At this point, I’m thankful we have our own home. I love that we are safe, we have everything we need nearby, and we are happy!
I was given a hand-me-down Christmas tree from a childhood friend! I am very thankful for her generosity!
We also had the opportunity to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus for the first time in my son’s 13 years! As you can imagine, it was a very meaningful and special experience for me.
I waited until Christmas Day to open the present and was so touched by the beautiful gift! On our Santa Day field trip, his teacher took a few pictures of my son and I in front of the Christmas tree in the lobby!
The teacher had printed out the picture she took and put it in a frame that can be put on the refrigerator! I have since put the beautiful picture on our fridge!
Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated our first Thanksgiving in our new home and I ended up buying a Vegan Holiday meal from Nugget Markets.
For Christmas, I decided to so the same thing. I ordered the Vegan Holiday meal and bought an extra vegan roast because my son loves it so much!
As you can see, the Vegan meal offers more than enough side dishes! Every bit is delicious and we easily have plenty of leftovers!
How was your Christmas holidays? Remember, be thankful. Stay humble and enjoy anything and everything you have. Appreciate the people who love and care about you. My son and I have each other and that’s all that matters to me. I do my best to keep pushing forward, focus on him and taking care of our health and wellness needs.
