I’ve been making the time and effort to be more involved with my son’s class. A few months ago, I chaperoned his first field trip ever and he’s in 8th grade. His second field trip of the year was just a few days ago and it was his first visit with Santa!

Santa Day was hosted by our local Alta Regional Center for families of special needs children. They act as advocates by helping to navigate/find services within our community.
Our first visit with Santa
My son’s class made a field trip out of Santa Day and I quickly volunteered to chaperone! I knew I had to visit Santa Claus with my son and witness such a huge event for our family!
Santa Day was a huge deal for us! The event was special because it was just for our “special” kids. It’s cool being in a place where everyone there knows and understands that our kids are different.
It was such a beautiful experience watching my son sit with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Of course, I took a few pictures of him sitting and looking so happy! I appreciated the elves working the event as they were all positive, engaging, upbeat, and patient with our kids.

A beautiful keepsake
Every child had their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus! They also received a candy cane and a small stuffed animal to take home! The picture was a beautiful and cherished gift! It is our very first picture with Santa! So, it is very special to me!
They also had cookies and water to enjoy after visiting with Santa.

On the other side of the hall, there was another meeting room full of fun games, crafts, and picture opportunities. I had my son sit down to color for a bit because I knew he would like that.
I even took a few pictures of my son in front of a beautiful backdrop and another scene of a sled with a snow covered background.

There were beautiful Christmas trees in the lobby and we took a few pictures in front of them. The trees were beautifully decorated. I think I’ll buy a few more Christmas decorations to add to our own Christmas tree and around our home! We also took a few class pictures in front of the tree!
This year, I also made some fun Christmas treats, including the Rudolph The Reindeer Poo Soap, Peppermint M&M Chocolate Cookies, and Snowmen Oreo Cookies!
I’m glad I took the time to take pictures of my son! As a mom, I can never have enough pictures of him!
Thank you to the Alta California Regional Center for hosting such an event for our special families. The elves were amazing! The decorations and Christmas trees were beautiful.
Thank you to my son’s teacher for making a field trip out of the Santa Day event! I had no idea how much the event would mean to us! I will cherish the experience and the pictures I took and the keepsake picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus!
Overall, our first visit with Santa was a hit! My son had a blast. He loved all the activities, the excitement, goodies, and I loved being with my son and see him so happy!
