We adopted a dog!
I applied for 6 dogs this past Sunday (July 19th). I waited so patiently for a call or even an email!
They finally called on Wednesday (July 22nd) and asked which dogs I was interested! I told her the top 4 dogs I was interested and in the end, I chose my first choice to meet!

First Choice
After the shelter called me and we scheduled the appointment, I was excited the entire time. I could barely concentrate!
I was so thankful I got to choose to meet my first choice dog! She’s at the perfect age, about 4 years old and out of the puppy stage.
She is a long coat Chihuahua! Not only is she a small breed, but perfect for our lifestyle since we live in a condo!

We got to meet her and spend time with her.
I immediately liked her because she came right up to me to say hello! I liked that she was friendly!
She is so gentle, calm, and sweet! She loved being near both my son and myself and just wanted to sniff us!
Welcome Home Kit
One of the main reasons why I wanted to adopt a dog from the Sacramento SPCA is because they offered a starter kit!
I ended up purchasing the “welcome home kit” which is essentially a starter kit for new pet parents!
When we got home that afternoon, I knew I needed more supplies. I ordered a few items, such as dog food, treats, pet food storage containers, and a dog bed.
I am so thankful for the welcome home kit! I appreciate that we could bring the kit home before we took her home. I had a chance to set up her crate and organize everything to have it ready for her arrival!
We brought her home the next day.
There are a few things I need to do, such as make a veterinarian appointment within 10 days and obtain a pet license.
Last year, I tried being a Foster Dog Mom. It was interesting and eye-opening. It made me realize so much!
